Doja Rap Album?

Doja may be the most intriguing person in the music world. Whether she’s filling up the charts top to bottom or pulling up to the Met Gala literally dressed as a cat, she’s always finding a way to make noise 🐱

But, I’m all the way here for the latest chatter in the rumor mill, which is that Doja’s next album will consist entirely of rap music. Yes, you read that correctly - Doja Cat is dropping a rap album 🗣

I mean, she even considers herself a real rapper. Just try to imagine Doja spitting insane bars over Alchemist, DJ Premier or Just Blaze beats - how crazy would that be? But back to real life – reliable sources are in fact confirming these rumors too. On last week’s Rap Life Review podcast, Ebro Darden confirmed he heard “straight rap records” from Doja’s new project 👀

Now, we all know Doja is a massive hip-hop head and really knows her stuff when it comes to rap music. Remember when she hopped on IG live not only praising but also rapping along to Little Brother bar for bar?

So what could go wrong? In my humble opinion, nothing. Listen, I get the concern and understand she is definitely approaching unchartered waters with this one, but I personally love when artists who aren’t necessarily known for their rapping ability take a stab at rapping. Plus, you know that an artist who holds as much weight as Doja currently does will be able to leverage their endless relationships to produce and drop a rap album that doesn’t sound forced. I mean, just look at what Russ was able to do with his Chomp mixtape series 🔥

If you know Russ, you know he can RAP rap, and people in the music world know that too. So because of that simple fact, he was able to recruit the best rappers and producers, stand side by side with some of the best talent we’ve ever seen and drop two really good straight rap mixtapes

And I truly believe Doja can do the exact same and execute in similar fashion. Whatever she has in store, I’m ready for it right now. Doja - we’re patiently waiting 🙏

🚨 THEY. Interview 🚨

If you’ve ever watched any of my TikToks or consistently read this newsletter, you’ll know that THEY. is one of my favorite R&B acts out there. Drew and Dante are two of the most talented artists I’ve ever heard, and recently dropped what I deem one of the smoothest albums of 2023, Nü Moon 👇

Well, the duo recently stopped by the studio to kick it and chop it up about all things music. Stay tuned to the TikTok page for clips of the exclusive interview, but for now, peep Dante talking about artist growth and finding their identity as a group 💪

I feel like @THEY. really found their pocket on Nü Moon 🌙 #they #artistgrowth #rnb

Lastly, in honor of last week being the 10 year anniversary of Acid Rap, here’s five of the best Chance The Rapper verses ever…
