Dreamville Fest

Last weekend, I went to Dreamville Fest and I’m still in shock from how amazing it was. Peep how fire this opening edit was 🔥

A lot of new music dropped, so I’ll give you the quick recap of all the best stuff. Plus, I got an interview coming this week with one of the most bubbling rappers you probably don’t know yet 👀

Let me be very clear – Dreamville Fest is THE STANDARD for all music festivals and has officially jumped into the #1 spot. Period. Let’s run through some of the coolest moments (to me personally) that you may not have seen online 🎤

  • First, the non-headlining performers absolutely KILLED their performances. I was personally so excited to see SiR, Jordan Ward, Summer Walker and a few others live for the very first time and I was absolutely blown away. Peep SiR killing You Can’t Save Me and sounding as good live as he does on his recordings

  • Second, J. Cole is truly one of the best performers I’ve ever witnessed live. I’ve seen him approximately six times now, but this one may have been the best one yet. He ran through a multitude of hits, from Friday Night Lights to The Off Season and during his performance of Villematic, he rapped his Johnny P’s Caddy verse and it was AMAZING

He also had this amazing transition between his two 21 Savage collabs, My Life and A Lot 🔀

  • Lastly, I got to interview Bas, 6lack, Waka Flocka Flame and Jordan Ward and ask them a ton of hard hitting questions. See 6lack talking about his favorite feature verse of all-time, and Waka set the record straight on Drake or Wale having the better feature verse on his hit songs

New Music

New Music Fridays are starting to HEAT UP before the summer time. A lot is dropping and it may be hard to keep up with, so let me walk you through some of the recent notable releases 📲

  • Tyler, The Creator dropped what is essentially his deluxe to Call Me If You Get Lost called The Estate Sale. This release includes 8 new songs and feature the likes of Vince Staples, A$AP Rocky and YG. This is truly some of Tyler’s best stuff I’ve ever heard and I have no clue how it didn’t make the cut for the album

  • Larry June & The Alchemist dropped their long awaited collaboration album, The Great Escape. Smooth jam after smooth jam. Insane production. FIRE feature verses from Action Bronson, Slum Village, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa and more. This is a must listen

  • Curren$y & Jermaine Dupri dropped their collaboration album too, For Motivational Use Only, Vol. 1. This one is short and sweet. Jermaine went crazy on the beats and Curren$y sounds like he’s in prime form. This project also gives us a historic hip-hop moment too – the very first time T.I. has ever rapped on a JD beat

  • R&B duo, THEY. may have just dropped the album of the year (in my humble opinion). Nü Moon marks the end of a 3 year hiatus and it is a melodic masterpiece. I cannot emphasize enough how good this album is, so please just trust me on this one – tap in and thank me later

  • Aminé and KAYTRANADA announced their collaborative album, Kaytraminé, which drops May 12th. This one is going to be SPECIAL, as two of the Soundcloud GOATs, whose sounds complement each other so well, link up for what should be an album of the year contender. Their first single, 4EVA is out now

🗣 mynameisntjack Interview

Mynameisntjmack is a rapper who you probably don’t know yet, but should familiarize yourself with quickly because he’s going to be making some serious noise in the coming months. If you’re a fan of Isaiah Rashad, Earl Sweatshirt and MF Doom, you’re going to LOVE his music. He’s currently gearing up to drop an EP, Bookmark and it’s REALLY impressive (yes, he sent it to me early lol)

  • The sound, lyricism and production on there is stellar. Take a listen for yourself – the first two singles from the EP, Walk Around and Leak are already going crazy online

And also, keep your eyes peeled because I’m going to be dropping clips this week from my exclusive interview with him ⭐️

Playlist here as always, enjoy your week fam 💜
