SMINO IS DROPPING!

DROPTOBER IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! The unique artist from St. Louis, Smino, is gearing up for the release of his third studio album, Luv 4 Rent, after he took to Twitter last week to make this announcement 🐥

Any time an artist says they’ve been “going through it”, you know can expect some amazing music to come. He hasn’t dropped an official studio album since his 2018 release, NOIR, so I’m really excited for this one 🙏

And while we wait a few weeks for his full album, enjoy his latest single 👆

Yasiin Bey's Legendary Feature

I know you’re probably tired of me writing about JID and his latest album, but I have one more cool story for you. So back in 2017, Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) went on Hot97 for an interview to tell the world the only rapper from the new school that he’s digging is JID 🤝

Now, just a few months back, as JID was beginning the rollout for The Forever Story, he dropped Surround Sound as his lead single, which samples the legendary Aretha Franklin track One Step Ahead 🐐

What makes this sample choice so interesting is that this very same Aretha song is sampled in arguably Bey’s most notable song ever, Ms. Fat Booty

Lo and behold, JID drops the album and on track 11, Stars, we see a feature from none other than Yasiin Bey. A true full circle moment 😍

I Interviewed J. Robb

J. Robb is probably the best producer/DJ you’ve never heard of, so let me put you on. A Baltimore native, J. Robb came on the scene hot setting Soulection on fire with his signature sound of blending future beats with classic rap/R&B sounds 👾

He’s now produced for a slew of hot artists, including his 2020 collab album with Elujay, Gems In The Cornerstore, which features Kyle Dion, Ciscero and Foggieraw 💎
